City crews completed a four block 6 inch water main on Avenue 6 from 1st Street to 4th Street and installed two fireplugs to provide standard protection. Fireplugs are set back on the sidewalk with separate underground valves for isolation during repairs and maintained water service.

Roberts Well Output Jumps to 105 GPM in Test
Roberts No. 2 well on Mrs Oscar Roth land shows 105 gallons per minute during Sunny Glen pipeline pumping with a steady 155 foot water level and 85 foot static level. Test results note promising recovery and ideal chemical analysis with fluoride, while city buys water rights via lease purchase to end royalty costs. Three Roberts wells can deliver 225 gpm now.

Lankford Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in Air Force Reserve
Major Earl Lankford of Marfa with Bend Squadron in the Civil Air and commander of the Big Patrol is advanced from major to lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve effective June 1. He will depart Sunday for a two week Air Reserve tour at Dyess Air Base Abilene. Brine shrimp is the only animal besides a fly species that lives in the Great Salt Lakes Utah. Sir Francis Drake claimed present day California for Queen Elizabeth in 1578.
