Twenty-second Big Bend Livestock Show Saturday
The twenty second annual Big Bend Livestock Show will be held Saturday with 150 fat lambs 21 baby beeves 12 colts 4 heifers and 3 Charolais on display at Stow Place Big Bend Wool and Mohair warehouse. Events start 10 a.m. with colts 1 p.m. lambs 3 p.m. Hereford heifers 3 30 p.m. Charolais heifers 4 p.m. fat steers 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. grand and reserve steer judging followed by livestock auction at 7 30 p.m. Officers are President Jack Shely Tyrone Kelly J D Holman Vice Presidents B G Hill Treasurer L J Tomlin Secretary. A junior high basketball tournament runs Thursday to Saturday with four brackets for 7th and 8th grades, boys and girls. Marathon businessman named state college regent
Bill Donnell of Marathon appointed to the Board of Regents of State Senior Colleges by Gov. John Connally. Donnell will succeed Ed Gossett Dallas, term to Jan. 10, 1967, and holds Lightning Ranch in Brewster County with ranches in Presidio and Zavala counties. He is a San Antonio native, Texas A&M graduate, former Highland Hereford president, and World War II veteran with Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. He is married to Roxanna Holland. they have five children. John Crocker Jr. of Houston joins as new appointee, succeeding Newton Gresham. Reappointments: Saverna Cross Lackey and J.L. Huffman.
