Pastor To Observe 12th Year With Local Church
Ted S. Rogers begins his 12th year as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church here. The brick church was destroyed by fire during his tenure and a new sanctuary was completed last year. The anniversary service at 11 o clock Sunday will ordain six new deacons and one new elder, install officers, and observe the Lord's Supper. Members and new attendees are welcomed.

1950 Rainfall Totals at Sal Mond College Area
A total of 1748 inches of precipitation was recorded by the Slates gauge at Sal Mond College for 1950. The Alpine area saw rain in June with 184 inches, September 638 inches, and August 30. The biggest 3 hour period occurred July 34 20 with 23 inches. November and December brought little moisture. The five year averages show 16.82 inches to 1990, with all time record rainfall in 1941 at 31.45 inches. Overall average to 1980 is 17.88 inches.

Two Brewster county ranches totaling about 45 000 acres changed owners in recent deals. The Jim P Wilson Green valley ranch covers 21 sections near Alpine with sale to Eat Hammond of Colorado City and includes no livestock. Local Unit Reaches First Class Status Subject To Final Approval
The Alpine post office passed the $40,000 mark in receipts for the year just ended. The official announcement stated the office would automatically advance from second to first class, but the rating awaits final approval by the Post Office Department and the new fiscal year beginning July 1. 1950 receipts were $40,344, a bit over 10 percent higher than 1949. Quarterly gains show strong performance with $9,442.02 first quarter 1950, $9,442.09 second, $10,449.06 third, and $11,779.97 fourth.
