The Civil Aeronautics Administration will activate at Alpine a peripheral air ground communications station within weeks. One of 250 outlets, it lets pilots within 100 miles talk directly to El Paso Air Route Traffic Control Center, reducing relay delays and improving airspace efficiency.

Sunshine Epperson to Tour West on Government Expense

Epperson known as Sunshine sails for Carson City Nevada on an expense paid trip to testify in a federal case against John Barker who allegedly used her gasoline credit card to obtain about 400 dollars worth of fuel and supplies. He worked ranches near Alpine and helped found the Big Bend Soil Conservation District. his territory covered Alpine south to the Rio Grande.

Pemex Wildcat Near Ojinaga Reports Gas Shows
A Pemex wildcat near Ojinaga Chihuahua six miles west of the Rio Grande and 20 miles NW of Ojinaga shows gas in a test from 4650 to 4725 feet. The drill recovered 325 feet of mud with gas, acreage around the area has sold for 50 cents to 1 dollar per acre, one block at 2 dollars, with an 8000 foot target to test the Ellenburger formation.

Funk Well Runs Steady At 150 GPM
City officials cited USGS geologist Glenn Audsley confirming the Funk well north of town can produce 150 gallons per minute continuously.
