The Best-Dressed Contest on Sul Ross State College campus starts at 8 p m in the Little Theatre. Sa chems literary society selects a winner and two runners-up from 12 contestants. Judges are Mrs June Dyke Mrs Johnny Sue Kokernot and Mrs Edith Brown Alpine.

Man Charged in Burglary Of Bien Venido Restaurant

Police Chief Herman Hamilton states Frank Gonzales is charged with burglary of the Bien Venido Restaurant. He remained in Brewster County Jail on a $5,000 bond as the case heads to a Monday grand jury. On Feb 11 cafe operator Lee Smith reported a forced back door and office door theft from a cash register, cigars, a safety box, and a bank money bag. Police recovered $235.35 in cash, four boxes of cigars, a billy club, and the money bag from a baby bed mattress and a pickup in Gonzales property. He was arraigned at 3:45 pm before Justice Hallie Stillwell.

Show Me Chihuahua City Trip Planned by Trail Association

The Big Bend Trail Association sponsors a six day trip to Chihuahua City Mexico. Members will drive to Presidio February 21 and ride the Chihuahua al Pacifico Railroad to the city returning Monday noon. The trip promotes Highway 67 and may lead to the highway designation 67.

Principals Win Extensions in Alpine School Board Action

The Alpine School Board extended contracts through 1970 for three principals: Richard Bain of the high school, Dick Nash of Central, and Albert Halford of Central. Mrs. Berta Valenzuela was appointed 7th and 8th grade science teacher at Central, replacing Tom Hale who resigns January 31.

Sul Ross to Dedicate Methodist Student Center

The Methodist Student Center at Sul Ross State College will be dedicated at 4 p.m. Sunday February 16 with Bishop Alfie Carleton and several doctors and reverends in attendance. A student reception will follow honoring Bishop Carleton newly appointed to lead Methodist Churches in New Mexico. Carleton will speak at the First United Methodist Church with nursery services provided.
