Construction of a 40 unit addition to Sul Ross Village progresses this week on the college campus in Alpine Texas. The project mirrors the original design with same architectural style and includes fully furnished air conditioned living spaces. Fort Davis Steer Named Reserve Champ at El Paso
Jamie Dyer of the Brewster Jeff Davis 4 H Club showed the reserve grand champion steer in the Junior Steer Division at the 38th Southwestern International Livestock Show in El Paso. The 11 year old daughter of Mr and Mrs James Dyer of Fort Davis bred her lightweight hereford steer. Other area steer winners included Jim Dyer Karen Sims Johnny Harvey Bob Owens Clint Owens Tom Kelly Kay Lane and Ronald Sims with lamb exhibitors Marsha Mills Homer Bob Owens and Andy Prude. County Agent Ray Sims and several parents accompanied the youths to El Paso.

Mrs. G. C. Jewel Miller, 63, of Marathon, died Monday at Brewster County Memorial Hospital after a heart attack. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Marathon Methodist Church with burial in Marathon Cemetery. Survivors include her husband G. C. Miller, a daughter in San Antonio, three sons in San Angelo Snyder and Houston, a sister in Ada Oklahoma, a brother in Sherman, and four grandchildren. The Alpine Chamber of Commerce board meets tonight at 6 15 at the Ponderosa.

SR to Host Coaches at Sul Ross Clinic
West Texas renowned coaches Jerry Hopkins Doug Ethridge and Jim Puryear will lecture at Sul Ross State College Coaching Clinic on February 17 and 18 in Alpine. No registration or tuition fees. A buffet dinner hosted by the Alpine Chamber of Commerce will accompany sessions. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the two day event concludes at noon on February 18.
