Funeral for Oliver Boyd Scallorn World War veteran
Oliver Boyd Scallorn, a World War II veteran born November 24, 1888 in Glidden Texas, died last Thursday night. His funeral was held Friday at the Baptist Church with Revs Sparks and Davis officiating and a Camp Marta military squad providing honors. Scallorn lived in Laredo, Eagle Pass and Brownsville, enlisted July 21, 1917, served in Battery C 131st Field Artillery, was discharged in 1919, and had tuberculosis reducing his weight from 182 to 103 pounds during service.
