Alpine Lady Dies En Route Home Funeral Rites Held
Mrs. Yaeger 65 died while en route from Dallas for medical care. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Baptist Church in Alpine, with Rev. Buren Sparks officiating. Interment in Elm Grove cemetery. She had lived in Pine since 1928 and leaves sons, daughters, and stepchildren across Texas, Oklahoma, and South America.

Big Ball Bull Returns From CCC Camp Prank
A nine month CCC camp veteran brings a 1600 pound Hereford bull home from the Big Bend region north of Silver City New Mexico. The ill beast had little feed and was unable to work due to long illness and age. Mrs J C Bird of Alpine ranches assisted in the sale and return of the animal.

Moisture hit the Alpine region early Tuesday with light rain and hail. Government gauge by P. G. Walker reports 0.28 inches of precipitation over a small area extending 12 to 15 miles south and lighter rain toward the river. East of Marathon in Longfellow, a four hour light rain occurred. Sheriff’s Office Moves to New Quarters for Expanded Duties
The sheriff’s office at the courthouse was moved to provide space for the collector’s office and to house a new fingerprint department. The sheriff now occupies the north side of the hall in the former county surveyor’s office, with Mr. Gard moving next door. The department will be affiliated with the U S Department of Justice division for investigation and will receive police broadcasts from WOAI three times daily. The change, funded without extra county expense, aims to improve cooperation with city state and federal agencies and aid the collector’s office. Bucks by a close margin at the start of the season.

Mexican Recovering from Gunshot Wound
Carlos Cortez, resident of Boquillas on the Rio Grande, was reported this week to be recovering from gunshot wounds suffered early last week when he accidentally discharged a firearm. He underwent a successful operation at an Alpine hospital. Cortez is the son in law of the Sadas who run the Boquillas store and a mine in Mexico across from the border town.
