The Alpine High School Band will award two medals at term end for most progress and for loyalty. Funds come from local businesses Cobb Moyer and partners. the J. W. Sheppard Chambers Electric Co. award and the Mi System-Model Tailors award will be presented with names and dates on gold medals. Director Thomas B. Granger announced the initiative to boost effort and interest in the band.

Cougar Bagged on Hudspeth Ranch Southeast of Alpine
Bruce Duncan bagged another cougar on the Hudspeth Ranch southeast of Alpine. The big cat is blamed for killing sheep and other stock nearby. A light drizzle fell as Duncan stayed on the Brown ranch where a government gauge recorded 18 inches of precipitation over three years. Two Petty Robberies Reported In Past Week
Two petty robberies were reported to officers here the past week. The Cotte Cup on Fifth Street was broken into last Friday night and money was stolen from a slot machine. Sunday night the Fisher Drug store in the Holland hotel building was entered, a slot machine robbed, and dollars belonging to the bus company taken from a drawer. Doors were found locked next morning. no arrests have been made as officers continue to work both cases.

Burgess Dairy Moves Into New Downtown Quarters
Burgess Dairy has relocated to a renovated rear unit behind the Safeway store featuring a modern milk handling plant. The old building was bought and expanded with a stuccoed exterior, new rooms for bottling and storage, a large refrigeration system, live steam sterilization, and upgraded offices with a front office and rear processing areas. The deal was finalized with T. A. Beard selling to Mr. Burgess. If viable, the new source would join the College hill reservoir, easing last summer’s strain and possibly saving the expense of drilling another well. A Highland Herford Breeders Association sponsored gathering in Marfa heard about drouth losses, credit relief, and government aid. About fifty cattlemen from Trans Pecos, with visitors from Fort Worth and Amarillo, formed a committee to draft resolutions urging loan expansion, flexible credit, tariff support, and land use safeguards to revive the cattle industry after the drought.

City Taxes Being Paid Very Slowly
Delinquent 1934 city taxes are being paid slowly. Taxpayers are urged to pay before March 15 1995 to save on full 10 percent penalties interest and costs. After March 15 the city may file tax suits and impose stricter collection measures to protect credit and avoid drastic steps.
