Wren as Yule Custom in Old Ireland
In Irish Christmas lore a wren is hunted on Christmas morning, tied with holly and ribbons, and carried door to door by singing boys who expect a dole. An incident linked to a Danish-Irish war tale explains the wren as a blamed, pivotal bird in legends. Woodwards host a Christmas dinner at their home, continuing the honored tradition.
