Women Mobilize for War Aid Clothing Drive and Christian Education
In a nationwide effort led by churches and women’s groups, 15 million pounds of clothing were collected for war victims overseas by Sept. 26, meeting a tight deadline. Ruth Ure, missionary to India, shifts to a Presbyterian post to expand Christian education abroad. Across the United States, released-time religious instruction grows as weekday classes surge, with 17600,000 children in 44 states involved and 300,000 in New York in released-time programs across communities and schools.
