Alpine Proclaims Mountain War Time for 1945 Start
Alpine Texas and nearby communities will observe Mountain War Time starting January 1, 1945, per a December 26 1944 city proclamation. The move aligns Alpine Marfa and area clocks with Mountain Time while acknowledging Central War Time. The measure reflects wartime needs and follows prior surveys and letters to Congress seeking the change. Also noted is Pecos planning to stay on Central War Time and regional talks with other towns about timing. City officials emphasize clocks will be set back one hour to conform with the proclamation and may be rescinded by the city commission if circumstances change.
