State rule may force two council members to quit
Two Alpine City Council members Tom Connor and Dr. Everett Turner questioned if they must resign after a ruling bars public office for state institution faculty. A Canyon example prompted resignation as Kenneth Olsen left the City Commission when told to quit teaching. Awaiting further developments, university officials offered no comment.

A Church Christmas Parade will be held in Alpine on Saturday December 19 at 2 p m under the sponsorship of the Chamber of Commerce and Ministerial Alliance. It forms on Holland Avenue and ends at the courthouse whereSanta will greet children. The Alpine High School band directed by Ann McMurry will play. The Catholic Youth Choir will sing on the courthouse lawn and community caroling will follow led by local churches.

Pool rites set Friday for Dave Pool Sr.
Dave Pool Sr. 67 died Wednesday of an apparent heart attack at the White Mill ranch south of Alpine. He was born November 9 1903 in Coke County Texas and had ranching ties in the area all his adult life. He is survived by his wife three daughters two sons two sisters one brother and a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services set for 3 p.m. Friday at Geeslin Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.
