The Lumbermen's Association of Texas channels a $500000 fund to create The Lumbermen's Investment Corp. to finance Title I improvements and mortgages originated by Retail Lumber Dealers of Texas. President H L Richania of New Braunfels says the aim is to serve over 600 small towns lacking adequate financing, with 4000 retail yards represented and office bases in Austin. John W. Gillett of Alpine named director. Dr James Naismith invented basketball in 1891.
