Miss Rains, senior daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rains, will be crowned queen at Alpine High School in February as part of coronation ceremonies led by Principal Clarence Winn. State Urges 69 500 Grant for City Pool
Texas Parks & Wildlife Department recommended a $69,500 federal grant to Alpine for a municipal swimming pool. The project costs are about $139,000 with a 50 50 city state federal funding split. Ken Esmond engineers designed the Olympic size pool south of Kokernot Field on land donated by H L Kokernot Jr.

Bikes to Receive Reflective Tape Under VFW Program
Free reflective tape will be applied to youngsters bicycles in the Lite A-Bike program by VFW Post No 7207 at Central and Centennial Schools on Monday December 5 from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Tape will be placed on rear fenders handlebars and front forks to improve visibility after dark.

Deer Fat Plentiful as Hunters Check In Record Crowd
Big Bend Sportsman's Club of Alpine reports a record hunter check in with 62 hunters and 90 guns. Nelon Locker Plant received 120 deer yesterday. The heaviest deer weighed 170 pounds in the club contest, slain on Rosillos Ranch. The largest head, 113 1/4 inches, was taken on the 02 Ranch.

Midland Flights Are Proposed
Walter F. Clontz of Golden West Air Charter Service proposed regular air service between Midland and Alpine using single engine planes from Starns Field. The schedule would fly twice daily to Fort Stockton Alpine Pecos and back with an Alpine Midland round trip fare near 20 dollars. A Texas Aeronautics Commission permit is required before service begins.

Alpine Bucks dominated the All-District selections as 13 players earned spots across offensive and defensive squads. Dennis Earl Bryant topped the team in scoring and was named to both units, with George Gonzales Archie Clouse and Danny Drewry also making the offense. Marshall Kring was named to the defense, while several sophomores and juniors earned honorable mentions as Alpine secured its third straight district title with an undefeated 6–0 record.
