Delighful Barbecue Dance at Kenedy Ranch near Alpine
A hospitable ranch home hosted a large barbecue and dance Saturday evening about 17 miles northeast of Alpine. Guests came from Alpine Ft. Davis and Ft. Stockton plus nearby ranches. Yantis and Merrills of San Antonio helped host and greet guests at the gate. The party featured pit barbecue and a long backyard supper before a lively dance. Hosts Mr and Mrs Kenedy offered famed western hospitality to all attendees.

Two men in Alpine quarrel end in double shooting
In Alpine, W M Griffin and Robt Goodwin shoot at each other after a dispute over an account. Griffin dies from four wounds while Goodwin is wounded in the neck. Griffin had moved from Uvalde to Brewster County. Goodwin had lived in Alpine for years. A farm near town hosted the incident as neighbors recall the tragedy.
