A historic storm sweeping Texas caused at least 100 deaths and millions in losses. Galveston endured the worst, but its seawall and raised grade protected the city. The concrete causeway across Galveston Bay suffered damage but will be rebuilt. Across the coast crop damage widespread. Houston homes reported harm.
Atlanta governor announces a 1500 reward for the first three persons convicted in the Leo M. Frank lynching. He vows to pursue all involved in the “unfortunate sequence” and cites the prison farm’s vulnerability and the lynchers’ secrecy as factors conceding insufficient defenses.
The notice announces Jackson & Harmon of Alpine Texas filed July 2 1915 for a permit to appropriate 10 cubic feet per second of water for irrigation and stock raising from Strobel Basin Pecos River via a reservoir levees ditches and pumping plant in Brewster County. A hearing is set in Austin October 4 1915 at 10 am to consider the application with multiple continuation options.
