Judge Beans Courthouse Attracts Tourists On U S 90
The famed Langtry courthouse saloon of Judge Roy Bean on U S 90 at the Mexican border drew more visitors in 1941 than 1940. State Highway reports show 30,088 visitors and 9,789 cars in 1941, with December figures up from the prior year. Local names and towns listed include Alpine, Marathon, Castelon, Camp Roberts, Sheppard Field, and Frankfort among others. Resistance of cotton to mulasoe is studied by the National Bureau of Standards for sandbag use. Keep Alpine money in Alpine.
