Alpine Cowboys Head to Chihuahua City Series
The Alpine Cowboys leave town for Chihuahua City Mexico to play a three game series with a Chihuahua City all star team. They have a 21 8 season record after taking two of three from the Casa Grande Cotton Kings in Casa Grande Arizona last weekend. The governor and city officials organized the trip and hope to make the series an annual event.
Water Shortage Ends In Alpine County Well Tests 237 Gals
A county test well drilled on Tar Terrys land three miles west of Alpine pumped 237 gallons a minute for 36 hours starting Monday morning. The U S Geological Survey team led by E A Moulder verified data as the pull reached 132 feet with 17 feet drawdown. The 592 foot depth reached in basalt confirms robust well yields as Alpine tides back from shortages.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 am at the Livingston Funeral Home chapel for Archie Lee Trout 61 who died last Sunday of a heart attack at the home of his daughter Mrs Pete Kennedy at the Kennedy Ranch north of Alpine Rev Carl Lawson pastor of the First Methodist Church conducted the service. He was born Aug 14 193 at Honey Grove Texas reared in Arkansas moving back to Texas in 1916. He married Myrtle Scarbrough at Quanah and they lived in Corpus Christi area for 20 years. They moved to Marfa in 1939 where he was service manager at Fort D A Russell during World War I. After the war he worked at the Marfa Alpine air base then with W B Johnson Marfa. He retired about 18 months ago and lived with his daughter on the Kennedy Ranch. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Survived by his widow two daughters Mrs Kennedy and Mrs C M Buck of Nebraska and three grandchildren. Interment was in Elm Grove Cemetery.
