Judge Higgins returned from Fort Davis to report that in the Kinney versus Sumner case the jury awarded the plaintiff 2500 dollars after two hours deliberation. Both parties are prominent in Alpine. Kinney was represented by Judge Higgins and Geo. Thurmond, Sumner by Judge Van Sickle and Mr. Thomason. The case will likely be appealed.
Program notes for a Methodist church gathering led by Mr R C Armistead with talks by Miss Dale Justice Miss Ora O Malor and Miss Carrie Roberson on the Christian's reward topic The meeting invites all young people to attend at the church.
W B Carrier auditor for the G H S A railroad arrived Tuesday morning and began examining R B Trent the longtime agent here. G F Gardiner formerly an operator at Sanderson took charge yesterday. The community regrets Trent exit and the railroad change. Trent plans a period of rest and leisure after twenty years of service.
Harold Phillips the year old son of Mr and Mrs H C Phillips died last Sunday morning after an illness. Doctors could not save him. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the family home conducted by Rev F B Atwood.
