Rainy spells boost ranches across Alpine region
The Ed Davidson ranch received the season’s heaviest rain in 15 years last Friday, washing out some spreader dams but drawing praise from Ed. Similar downpours touched the Bill Sohl and Zeb Decie ranch, with Bud Roark reporting good rains for his flocks. Local soil work includes Jack Howard and Charles Land aiding Bob McGill, who has 300 acres of Johnson Grass on root-plowed ground and seeks stock. Bert Potter voraciously haying, while water discoveries inspire optimism as eight wells replace a long pipeline. Special note: Cesario G Quintela, former Alpine High School student, returns from Japan after Army discharge July 25.
