Adobe Influence Shapes PX Building at Flying School
Historic Fort Davis in Texas inspired the adobe post exchange at a flying school here. RAF personnel built the structure in spare hours using hand formed bricks, motivated by Col James Grisham and Lt Henry Seaford as a cheap, quick wartime solution. Volunteers, including Pvt Lucas Johnson, produced up to 1800 adobes daily, with straw and caliche clay forming the mix.

Rotary rig to be moved north of Alpine for oil test
A contract signed by W B Hinton of Leckhart plans to deepen a northern Brewster county oil test about 10 miles north of Alpine. The drill will reach 8500 feet in the lower Ordovician, with work to start in 30 to 60 days using a rotary rig. The test, begun by Floyd Dodson and abandoned in 18, targeted 7810 feet in Vedahl?n formation with gas and distillate observed. The site sits in Sec 68, block 1 GH&SA Ry, near Hovey and the Santa Fe railroad.

He has four sons in the armed forces. three started at Sul Ross, now in the Army, and the youngest, James, is a Marine first class private.
