Central School Gym Damaged By Explosion
A blast at Central School gym damaged the building as a bill by Rep. Ken Regan to acquire 8000 more Brewster County acres for public ownership of land within the Big Bang National park area moved through the House Interior and Insular Affairs subcommittee. About 700,000 acres in the park area have been transferred to the National Park Service. 8000 acres remain.

Water heater explosion damages school gym. no injuries
A water heater explosion near the gym of a Marfa area school occurred Wednesday morning. The blast demolished part of the heating room and blew out walls and windows, though no injuries were reported among 24 second grade students and their teacher. The cafeteria remained undamaged.
