A packed Mojave Theatre hosted Alpine Rotarians performing The Womanless Divorce with a full cast. Sid Smith and associates paraded as a glamorous jury while Dr. Berkeley presided as judge. The crowd praised the costumes and staged courtroom antics amid lively audience reactions.

Suicide Follows Arrest Attempt Near Haskell Texas

Willie C Carruthers 22 of Haskell Texas fled from officers poised to arrest him at a dairy home on West College Avenue, then shot himself in the right breast with a .38 pistol. He died about 40 minutes later. Carruthers and his wife with a year-old child had moved to the area weeks earlier. Carruthers’ body held awaiting parental instruction as to disposition. officers do not know the offense charged.

An Easter morning crowd packed Alpine churches with notable Knights Templar participation. Rev. Baren Sparks, Baptist pastor, addressed the Masonic body at the Baptist church on the Resurrection theme, with Col. John Perkins absent. The service featured Holy Holy Holy, Christ Arose, and God Be with You Till We Meet Again as the choir led prayers and offerings.

Highland cattle cooperative marketing aids ranchers

Cattle producers in Highland country benefit from a cooperative marketing system that links raisers with Northern feeders.
