City and county officers will cooperate on a Safety Campaign starting Monday to enforce traffic laws. Mayor Moody announced rigid enforcement with court action for violators. A $75,000 museum building cornerstone was laid, with field trips to archaeological, geological, and biological sites and a McDonald Observatory visit. Fire destroys barn at County Commissioner Anja Wilson home
A large barn at the West Alpine residence of County Commissioner Anja Wilson burned Friday night around ten o'clock. The fire quickly gained headway before discovery, and volunteer firefighters could not save the structure or its contents. Several bales of hay, county tools, and a few items were lost in the blaze.

Progress On City Water Well Halted
The city’s new water well on South Hill was halted by a cave in at about 400 feet. Drilling contractor G. HL. Storey said the cave-in originated from the 190-foot level, while water struck at about 160 feet in a small quantity. The well may be drilled to 600 feet if needed to secure a good flow.

Burned Losion Bernal Slignt Injury at Auto Shop
