Alpine's Sul Ross Symphony Orchestra First Public Appearance
The Alpine Music club presented Sul Ross Symphony Orchestra in its first public appearance. Freshmen composers Ralph Paloey and Howard Stafford premiered Nocturne for Piano and Orchestra and Symphonette in D Minor. The ensemble, led by director Preston Stedman, featured many inexperienced players but showed promise for future Alpine concerts. Additional pieces by Handel Mozart Schubert and Wagner were performed. The event drew an appreciative audience and Rotary officials attended the 115th district conference in El Paso earlier in the week. Clean Up Week announced for April 26 May ?
