Graham Powers win two Alpine school board seats
Jeff Graham owner of Graham Motor Co. and F J Powers operator Powers Service won the two Alpine P System school board seats in last Saturday’s election with 431 and 303 votes respectively. J D Holman 21, Pilly Ward 208, Meriwether 65. 641 votes cast. Election returns set for Tuesday April 12 with reorganization to follow. Coleman, long-time president, urged open attendance and nonpartisan duties of trustees.

New Form Wins Big Majority In City Government Vote
The enlarged city government plan passing 82 to 46 will replace a mayor and two commissioners with a mayor and five council members. Mayor Lockhart and council candidates Winings McCollister Whiteside and Anderau win. Write-in votes listed for commissioner and council positions. PTA Barbecue Nets $532 at Roker Lodge
The PTA barbecue last Saturday at Roker Lodge raised 532 dollars after expenses of about 60 dollars, a tremen dous success praised by Mrs. Rex Ivey Jr and Mrs. James L Crawford. The funds will support grass planting at Central Shop and the committee thanked donors and workers including Grady Nelon and Joe Brady, plus many mothers and teachers who aided ticket sales despite unseasonable weather.

Lerios Return On Saturday Lobos Open Home Schedule
Sul Ross Lobos coach Ray Van Cleef will host St Mary's at Ka Kerna Field Saturday at 2 30 pm to begin a seven game home stand. Abi Iene Christian College visits Monday at 2 30 pm with a doubleheader Tuesday at 1 90 pm. Texas Tech arrives Thursday April 14 at 2 30 pm and a twin bill Friday April 15 at 1 30 pm. The Lobos lost to Arizona 15 46 in Tucson Monday while Saturday's first game vs New Mexico State needed 11 innings to 7 4, then won 3 0 in the nightcap. The Lobos moved to Western New Mexico for a single game yesterday and continue to hit long balls led by Horlen and Gibbens.

Alpine Golf Course Closed Six Weeks For Bermuda Seeding
Alpine Golf Course will be closed for about six weeks while fairways are seeded with Bermuda grass. Dr. John W. O'Donnel, the Country Club president, says planting will be completed after last fall's Bermuda and rye grass work. About six hundred trees have been planted this spring, including 100 Arizona cypress.

Marie Gard Dies After Illness In Yoakum
Marie Gard died Saturday morning after a long illness. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 pm in Yoakum with Last Rites at the First Methodist Church in Alpine at 3 pm Monday. She was born September 13, 1910 in Uvalde Texas and lived in Alpine since 1940. She was active in Beauceant Pilot Club El Progreso and various community organizations. She opened the Beginer Garden in 1945 and taught many children. Survived by husband and son Bob, her father Oscar H Pattillo, sisters Mrs George Hyatt and Mrs Richard Uhlich, and four brothers, with pallbearers including Bob’s classmates.

Safe Worth Missing After Break-In at Factory
A theft report cites Felux Lanes discovering a large safe removed from its location in a factory repair shop restroom. The safe showed signs of forced entry with the knob beaten off and the box moved toward the door. The loss amount was about 477 dollars. Officers investigated the break-in and searched for suspects in the county.
