City officials announce Alpine Creek widening will significantly increase capacity. The project uses a bulldozer from North 5th Street bridge to four blocks north, widening channels from 30 to 75 feet in places. Completion will enable Main Street access from Fort Davis Highway to Brewster County Memorial Hospital with a concrete slab poured at the creek crossing.

Sunny Glen water joins Alpine city mains amid upgrades
Water from the Sunny Glen field began flowing into the Alpine city mains on Tuesday as in city wells run at full capacity. Mayor W E Lockhart says the new line allows 300 gallons per minute entering the system while older pipelines are upgraded to reduce sand taste and chlorine issues and a temporary 400 gpm limit remains until a larger 1000 gallon line is installed.
