A Marathon church and community page details Easter events and visits. Mrs. M. H. Jones receives an Easter cable from France. The Baptist WMS met at Mrs B L Hampton home with plans to entertain the Big Bend Workers Conference on April 12. Mrs J Hamilton led Bible study Romans and refreshment plates were served to Mesdames Lochausen Davis Chambers and Hamilton.
Luminous tape trails by American soldiers blaze jungle routes for navigation in enemy threatened areas. The tape outlines ship doorways and cargo hatches and marks personnel and equipment. Industry plans continued manufacture in peacetime for signs and markers with broad applications.
The court on March 12, 1945, recommended that with a valuation engineer if desired, it revalue all county properties and improvements at 50 percent of actual value. Laine’s petition was received and laid over until the April 9, 1948, 3 pm meeting at the courthouse to allow all interested parties to present arguments before the Commissioners Court.
