Park Easter Services Set in Big Bend National Park
Special Easter services will be held in Big Bend National Park sponsored by A Christian Ministry in the National parks. Services on Easter Sunday April 6 occur at 7 30 a m and 9 a m in the Chisos Basin Amphitheatre and at 7 30 p m in the Rio Grande Village Amphitheatre. A choral group from the First Baptist Church of Midland will perform three nights before Easter in the amphitheatres.

Alpine High School earned second place at the district UIL competition held Saturday at Parkland High School in El Paso. Fourteen Alpine contestants qualified for the regional meet in Lubbock, as Parkland took first with 151 points to Alpine's 119, Fabens third and Canutillo fourth.

Robert Nevill Pulliam 59 died after a short illness in San Antonio. Funeral services were in Alpine at First Presbyterian Church with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery. Car Death Investigated at Brewster Memorial Parking Lot
Mrs. Viola Morin Williams died from asphyxia due to fumes from burning upholstery in her car found in the Brewster Memorial hospital parking lot. Sheriff Carl Williams and Dr. W E Lockhart investigated the death with an autopsy determining the cause. Funeral services were held in Geeslin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev James R Best and Mayo Cleveland officiating. Pallbearers included Matt Kenman Joe Davenport Thomas McGinnis Pete Carrasco.

New officers include 1st vice president Clarence Winn and 2nd vice president George Drewry. Miss Jan Kay named Lions Sweetheart and will enter the District 213 queen contest in Odessa May 2 and 3.
