Elmer R. Pederson and Miss Ma bel M. Mapps were married Sunday September 22 1912 at 0 50 a m at the U P parsonage with Rev A L Godfrey officiating. The couple, from the Antioch neighborhood, left for their future home about twenty five miles northeast of Alliance where Mr Pederson holds a claim. The Herald extends best wishes for health happiness and prosperity.
On Monday morning September 24 at 8 o'clock Agatha Gregg wed Dr Lyndsay Newland of Greenville Tennessee at her parents home. Rev E von Farrell officiated. The bride attended Cotner University and the couple planned a reception after a breakfast. They will reside in Greenville where the doctor has a home ready.
The Latin Club hosted a farewell reception Tuesday evening at Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Smith’s Loramie avenue home for Miss Lulu Wirt retiring as Latin and German teacher. High school orchestra provided music and former pupils presented gifts. About two hundred friends, colleagues and pupils attended to wish her success at Kearney State Normal.
Hon. John C. Chase, Socialist candidate for United States Senate, spoke at two addresses in Alliance. The visit drew a favorable impression among local supporters and supporters of socialist platform.
Eugene Burton of Box Butte County campaigns at the courthouse to fair crowds praising clear speech. He notes Chase as the first socialist elected city mayor in the nation, serving two Massachusetts terms before a fusion defeat. Fred J. Warren, North Platte police judge and Socialist candidate for Congress, speaks at the Phelan Opera House in Alliance on October 16.
Geo. E. Douglas’s farm near Alliance hosts a farm and garden crops display at The Herald office. The exhibit shows 33 squash varieties, 7 potatoes, multiple beet varieties, beans cucumbers turnips radishes and many grains grasses and melons, highlighting wide varietal richness and quality.

Fred Quade a longtime Hemingford farmer died after drinking wood alcohol misbrought by a druggist. The German immigrant had purchased liquor on Saturday and fell ill by Tuesday. An inquest ruled his death accidental and not intentional. He was buried in Hemingford on Wednesday.
Mrs. Al Wiker came back Monday at noon after a Sunday visit to Anselmo with her daughter Mrs. Dick Waters.
