Nebraska voters weigh league, referendums, and Morehead bid
The editorial endorses Governor Cox and Nebraska candidate Morehead while criticizing the direct primary repeal referendum. It contrasts Harding’s league focus with broader national issues, warns of party politics, and urges voters to oppose the primary measure and support Morehead for a businesslike administration.
Fragmentary Senate Quotation Raises Clarification Doubts
The provided OCR text features a garbled quote attributed to Senator Harding about reservations and obligations. It lacks a coherent narrative, dates, or identifiable events, making it difficult to extract a clear news item or outcome. The fragmentary nature suggests transcription errors rather than a resolvable report.
Morehead Sailed Into Campaign Fire Over Suffrage Charge
In the closing days of the campaign, Republican members of the League of Women Voters circulated letters to state women accusing Morehead of being a "we" and opposing woman suffrage. The letter’s leading signature is from a woman whose husband was expelled from the Senate for corruption. The charge claims Morehead is the chosen candidate of the wet wing headed by Hitchcock, Mullen, and others.
