Burlington Plans New Railroad Extension Into Big Horn Basin
Burlington extension announced to run south from Kirby Wyoming through Thermopolis to Powder River, linking with the C and NW over two miles of new track by next year. The project supports irrigation growth of 1,412,000 acres in the Big Horn Basin and aims to boost freight and passenger service ahead of the Shoshone dam completion in December 1909. The dam will create a ten mile square lake and reclaim 150,000 acres, with total government and railroad investments around 17 million dollars.
