In a long celebration the Democrats held jubilant parades and fires across the west and north. Alliance led the events with a band, banners, and a march from the city hall to Fourth street. Republicans attended talks at the opera house while pledges supported the president and state government for a prosperous future.

Extreme cold and snowfall hit Alliance area this week
Yeu cold weather swept western Nebraska with temperatures dropping to twenty five below on Sunday night and fourteen below on Monday. Six inches of snow fell during the past week, according to F. W. Hicks, official Government weather observer for Alliance, in the weekly report.
Rousing Farmers Meeting Set Near Alliance
The Box Butte County Farmers' Club will meet at Art Groves' home north of Alliance next Tuesday November 21. This is the first gathering in weeks and a lively session is anticipated. Farmers and others are urged to attend.

Mrs Maria Bashford dies at 89 in Alliance home
Mrs Maria Bashford aged 89 years 1 month and 1 day died Sunday morning at her granddaughter Mrs A F Gaunt's home in Alliance. Funeral Monday afternoon Rev H J Young conducted services. She leaves a husband who died in 1901 a Civil War veteran eight children five living twenty grandchildren and about twenty great grandchildren. Remains sent to Mooresville Missouri that night.

The Post M. T. T. A. met Saturday afternoon with routine business completed. Zeno Mackay of Post C Lincoln was announced as candidate for state president at the next annual meeting. The Angora road near Coker ranch needs repairs and gates left open by auto drivers cause friction with ranchers. A T. P. A. dance is planned for December 23. Lloyd Thomas, newly elected state representative from the district, spoke briefly. Next meeting set for December 9.

A box-car burglar broke the seal at Burlington freight depot on Wednesday night and stole sixteen pairs of Noyse Norman shoes several guitar cases and a large quantity of tobacco One pair of missing shoes was later found by a Burlington employee in the yards Police are pursuing leads and warn that anyone with new shoes may be a suspect

Man named Victor Thompson faces charges after drunken threats
Victor L Thompson was found intoxicated at 224 West Third Street and threatened suicide with a revolver after arguing with his wife. Officer Wheeler arrested him at 212 De Horn. Thompson must serve fifteen days for the city and fifteen nights in local housing as ordered by Police Judge Roberta Thompson.

Eight Cars Off Track At Crawford In Freight Wreck
A westbound C B and Q freight derailed at Crawford when the rear end rolled down a hill and bumped the head end causing eight cars and an engine to leave the track. The wreck blocked the main line and passing track for several hours. Derrick from Alliance arrived at 1 15 am and track clearance occurred about 6 15 am. No passengers were delayed but No 109 and an eastbound fruit special were held up for hours.
