Paris reports the armistice with Germany signed at nine o'clock eastern time. Hostilities end at two o'clock in the afternoon. German representatives agreed to allied terms seen as near unconditional surrender. American forces had captured key positions before the ceasefire order reached. Report from the Alliance desk at eleven this morning.
Headlines report German delegation reaching the western front and meeting Marshal Foch at daylight. Also noted are Kiel sailors mutiny, Sedan's capture by American troops splitting German forces, and armistice terms discussion with German emissaries en route.
Nebraska voters went Republican by large margins in the general election. State offices likely to GOP control, with four of six congressmen won or contested. Norris appears safely re elected. Box Butte County and key counties swing GOP. Nevada? Not present.
A letter to E G Laing as county director urges wide publicity and immediate setup of enrollment for all boys aged fifteen years seven months to eighteen years who have not registered for selective service. It emphasizes parental consent, state law alignment, and that enrollment occurs to ensure availability for agricultural work by age sixteen.
