Rail Labor Board Orders Additional Wage Cuts in Rail Jobs
The United States railroad wage board in Chicago Sunday night slashed more than 48 million dollars from the pay of 400000 railway workers. The cuts average five cents an hour and mostly hit maintenance of way staff, with other classifications awaiting decisions. The move follows July reductions and could erode much of a 600 million dollar wage gain from 1920, provoking dueling opinions among board members about cost of living and living standards.
