Burlington surgeon visits Guernsey for Bayles injury

Dr. Bellwood, a Burlington surgeon, travelled to Guernsey at the week's end to see Harry Bayles, the passenger conductor on the Guernsey line, who recently broke his leg in two places. Bayles is improving and may soon be brought to Alhance for an X ray examination.

Million dollar rain boosts Box Butte land value in Nebraska

The Herald calculates that recent rains and snow increased Box Butte county land value by about 4.53 million dollars with 453,126 acres rising an average ten dollars per acre. Safe Robber Suspect Held for Identification

Frank Watson a 29 year old man said to be wanted in Alliance Nebraska for safe blowing was arrested Monday evening by Patrolmen Wolff and Cole. He claims mistaken identity but will be held until an officer from Alliance arrives to verify if he is the wanted man. A woman of the underworld who supplied the information says he told her he puffed a box in Alliance and a $500 reward is offered for his arrest.

Yeomen to Host Literary Social at Oddfellows Hall

The Yeomen organize a literary social at Oddfellows Hall on Friday May 5 at 8 pm. Members may invite four guests. Mr and Mrs F H Pardey expect their son Herbert C Pardey and partner Ben Holmes to arrive May 6 for a short visit before heading to Great Falls Montana to open a 50 week engagement in western vaudeville. Holmes starred in Ole Olson. Pardey is a home boy with a rising dramatic reputation.

Old Timer Anniversary in Box Butte County Vermont

On Tuesday April 25 Box Butte county seniors gathered to honor Mr and Mrs M P Nason for their fiftieth wedding anniversary in an old Vermont sod house. The event featured singing old sacred songs a large dinner served by the Nason women and a moving note from Mrs Fred Nason who had just recovered from surgery in Lincoln. The afternoon closed with gifts a farewell song and thanks for the occasion.

Uncle Zed Goodwin Dies Pioneer of Box Butte County

Zadock Goodwin known as Uncle Zed dies at 89 in Alliance after a life as a noted pioneer cattleman. Born in Virginia September 27 1831 he drove hogs to Cincinnati before settling twenty five years ago in Box Butte. Alliance railroad workers endure weekend snowstorm disruptions
