Lincoln February 28 Nebraska House finance chair Economy Reischick opposes a new capitol now, favoring 50 000 for repairing the old east wing. Richmond of Omaha would fund a new building by yearly levies, with major support in Omaha. Many favor repair due to cost and practicality, while a commission would vet designs before action. Senate bills, 39 days in, show heavy workload and looming many bills. A. T. Lunn of Alliance visited for freight rates and met Fire Commissioner Ridgell. Senate Fire 112 bill by Adams of Dawes would aid building and loan associations in pursuing justice locally.

John King Receives Pro Ball Offers From West and Coast

John King has a six month contract offer from the Denver West ern League club at 250 dollars monthly. He may also join the Oakland Pacific Coast League club if released. King plans to stay in Alliance and may open a fourteen table billiard parlor if he builds. He will likely play for Alliance if he stays, with Jack Pendleton also set to play there. In 1913 and 1914 King played in South Bend and Omaha respectively.

Beatrice Business College Beats Alliance Four Aces

At the Beatrice high school gymnasium last night the Beatrice Business College basketball team beat Alliance four Aces 35 to 0. Beatrice led in the first half as Alliance scored only once, with the home team tightening in the second half to maintain the advantage. The Beatrice squad is described as clean fast and all stars.

Pioneer Mother Eliza Hicks Dies in Alliance Nebraska

Mrs Eliza J Hicks 74 died at her Alliance home after a long illness pneumonia Funeral services set for Friday March 2 at 1 pm at the Baptist church burial in family lot Her life spanned Ireland Canada New York New York state to Nebraska where she helped shape early community life She is survived by eight children and one brother Allen Elliott postmaster at Megan Nebraska with most family gathered for the service.

Box Butte Farmers Reorganizes as Farm Bureau

At the Box Butte County court house the Box Butte Farmers' Association voted to become the Box Butte Farm Bureau. Membership stays closed to bona fide county farmers who sign the new by laws and the $5 fee is eliminated. Tiller Store 18 Consolidates with National Five and Ten Chain

On Tuesday J. F. Tiller closed a deal to consolidate his Alliance five ten and twenty five cent stores with the national five and ten cent stores, creating a ten store chain. Mr. Tiller will continue to manage the Alliance store as part of the larger organization. The move cites greater buying power enabling cheaper pricing. The Woman's Choral Club and Imperial Orchestra presented the second municipal concert with community singing at the Imperial theatre Sunday afternoon, drawing a good attendance.
