Hampton Named New Councilman to Fill Henry Vacancy
The council chose R. M. Hampton to fill the unexpired term of R. D. Henry in the Third ward after a split vote. The mayor left confirmation to council, and Hampton cited business duties as a reason against full-time service. Two petition candidates, Charles Hill and Charles Fuller, received one vote each. The body also reduced electricians licenses, set plumber and pool hall fees, approved sewer district 11, extended East Third Street water to the Potash highway, and authorized fire hose purchase and sewer water bonds sale. The library basement costs rose, prompting warrants, and old city warrants totaling about 1100 were canceled.
