W H M Burke of Watonga Oklahoma was arrested after passing worthless checks in the city last week. He told fanciful money stories, collected about 40 to 50 dollars from locals, and was taken to jail by Deputy Keeler and Officer Daugherty awaiting requisition papers from Sheriff McArthur.
A weary hobo entered Right clothing, tried a $y.50 pair of pants, but fled only to be stopped by Dad Johnson. Marshal Shaw tracked Happy Hooli gan to the stock yards, where he was arrested and jailed after a court trial. Edward and Frank Fenner were taken into custody last week for derangement of their mental faculties and transported to the state asylum at Lincoln last Friday by Sheriff Reed and assistants. Their parents, Mr and Mrs L K Fenner, mourn their affliction as friends hope for recovery. County Commissioner Leer, assisting in cattle dipping, was severely bruised in an accident but survived. He remains in the city for a county commissioners’ session.
Last Monday evening a group of rural normal students serenaded newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Leavitt at their home kept by G. E. Leidy. About forty people attended with the high school orchestra, gave recitations, and presented a glass berry set. Mr Leavitt thanked the group and spoke of future weddings. The couple will stay in Alliance during the normal.
A horse wandered onto the roof of Wim O Maraa s home near Hay Springs and fell through, striking Miss Middicott and crushing her body. O Mara rushed home from Alliance to help. The injured woman sustained severe bruises but no permanent injuries are expected.
