The annual Nebraska Stock Growers Association session brings in stockmen from the southwest, with the So Omaha boosters arriving by train. A formal program includes a concert, speeches by state officials, and a stockmen ball, as delegates discuss livestock transport, disease, and government inspection.

Sunday morning Chief of Police Mike Shay and Sheriff Brown attempted to arrest Bert Lapham aboard a Denver train but failed. By Monday he was in custody at the Hila Grand, and Brush officials were notified. On Tuesday he arrived with a requisition and was taken back for trial.

At seven o'clock last Saturday morning Rev. Father Devos joined John T. Wiker and Minnie M. Morris in marriage at Holy Rosary church. Only close friends attended. John is a popular local man and Minnie has many social connections. They will be at home to friends after July first.
In the United States v John and Herman Krause the trial for fencing government land is set for Tuesday morning. Miss Minnie Morris a schoolteacher from Alliance and John Wiker planned their June wedding and married Saturday in Alliance to avoid testifying delays. The couple will travel to Omaha on their honeymoon and return after testifying. A Justice Department notice says two Land Office special agents M R Chamber and E H Nixon join B F Detres in Alliance under district attorney supervision to build evidence for prosecution.
Sunday night into Monday morning four burglaries occurred with limited plunder. W A Manchester billiard hall, Dad Johnson’s hall, Dierks Lumber office, and Alliance Meat Market were entered, rear doors opened, cash drawers emptied, few items taken, no solid clues left behind. The following two days saw a decisive naval battle in which Russia’s fleet under Admiral Rojestvensky was sunk or captured by Japan, with Admiral Togo’s forces victorious and peace negotiations underway.
Following the sudden death of Mrs. Rev. Ray, memorial services were held at the First Presbyterian church. Rev. Bogue gave the invocation, a mixed quartet sang, and Col. Smyser delivered a fervent address. Fourteen Civil War and three Spanish American War veterans attended as graves were decorated at the cemetery.

Ground breaking yesterday on the Rumer block at Box Butte and Wyoming avenues marks a swift start toward a 150 by 130 foot building. Rumner department store will occupy the basement and first floor with offices above, and the dirt will be used to improve streets as Box Butte and Wyoming avenues are graded.
