Catholic Church Corner Stone Planned Despite Weather

Work progresses on the Catholic church with the cornerstone to be laid before part of next week if weather allows. Father McNamara says no public service at the laying, but dedication will include the event after completion, target date September 15. The building measures 45 by 96 feet with 16 foot sanctuary, basement 6 feet, tower 66 feet, seating 500, and costs about $25,000 before furniture.

Land Purchase Near Alton At 150 Per Acre

A man returned after a month away greatly pleased with a land deal buying 40 acres of irrigated land near the new town of Alton for 150 dollars per acre. The tract lies about three fourths of a mile from the W J Bryan Texas ranch. He would not sell for less than several times his purchase price. Accompanied by Roscoe Fenner they traveled to Bt Joe where they separated, Fenner later returning by train. Fenner liked parts of the country and plans for his two sons Ed and Frank to buy sites.
