First Presbyterian Church holds Sunday School at 10 a m followed by a 11 a m preaching service. Christian Endeavor meets at 7 15 p m and a second preaching service at 8 p m with morning theme Pauls Exhortation to Prayer and evening theme The Answered Prayer. All are invited.
The Agricultural Experiment Station issues Bulletin 121 titled Growing Hogs in Nebraska. Residents of Nebraska may obtain the bulletin free of charge by applying to the Agricultural Experiment Station in Lincoln Nebraska.
Work has begun on a new Nebraska telephone directory to be issued this month. Persons wishing changes to numbers or new installations should notify the telephone office immediately so their names appear in the directory.
Mrs. H. E. Boone, recently recovering from an operation, fell ill with muscular rheumatism after a period of improvement. She is bedfast again though showing progress, with her physician optimistic about continued recovery and likely incomplete health through the summer.
Mrs Shaw daughter of Hiram Wilson made final proof before local city officials on her claim near Bridgeport with M L Phares and Geo Hume as witnesses.

Blanche Macdonald wins the World Herald prize in District No 11 for a European trip. Final tallies delayed by voting surge. she travels with Miss Margaret Bell to Omaha on the 24th to join the touring party.
Work progresses on the Catholic church with the cornerstone to be laid before part of next week if weather allows. Father McNamara says no public service at the laying, but dedication will include the event after completion, target date September 15. The building measures 45 by 96 feet with 16 foot sanctuary, basement 6 feet, tower 66 feet, seating 500, and costs about $25,000 before furniture.
E C Burton arrives in Alliance from Wytheville Virginia with plans to reside here while maintaining interests in the Old Dominion. A farmer and tree growing enthusiast he supports deep soil preparation and dynamite to loosen ground for planting trees in the western landscape.

A man returned after a month away greatly pleased with a land deal buying 40 acres of irrigated land near the new town of Alton for 150 dollars per acre. The tract lies about three fourths of a mile from the W J Bryan Texas ranch. He would not sell for less than several times his purchase price. Accompanied by Roscoe Fenner they traveled to Bt Joe where they separated, Fenner later returning by train. Fenner liked parts of the country and plans for his two sons Ed and Frank to buy sites.
W Schissler editor of the Atkinson Graphic made a brief Monday stop in Alliance on his way to Colorado points, pausing during the journey.
Emil Dieasel of the Nebraska Land Company garage received a telegram Tuesday from Mexico Missouri stating his father was not expected to live long. He boarded the next train, No. 42, Wednesday morning to be with him.
Mrs J Phillips of Rackett, Garden county, went to Alliance in the early part of the week to file on a Kinkaid claim. She was accompanied by her son-in-law C S Embree.
H. KR. H. William an attorney from Michigan interviewed local real estate men in Alli ance on Tuesday seeking investment opportunities in the region.
The district hardware men's convention will be held in Alliance on Newday and Thursday of next week. The Herald cannot publish the convention program this issue and will provide a full account in the following issue.
The Herald notes L Sampy departs Alliance for the east early this week and plans a long trip from New York to Liverpool. He will visit Ireland, his native country, and travel to other parts of Europe on this extended journey.
Conductor and Mrs B H Perry leave Alliance for Denver last week. Their new address is 1116 Milwaukee Street. Perry remains as passenger conductor between Denver and Alliance.
Mr and Mrs J J Riordan reside at the B H Perry house 924 Box Butte Ave and have purchased all furnishings from Mr Perry saving work. Jack also bought Perry’s high quality Leghorn flock and plans a poultry business on the alde.
The Herald notes Dr D B Tyler, successor to Dr Belville, opens a professional card. Tyler, a Creighton Dental College graduate in Omaha, is expected to build a strong practice in the middle west.
Will Johnson of the Kinkaid claim near Alliance received a telegram Monday reporting his father’s serious illness in Mansfield Ohio. He traveled to Alliance and boarded a train east the following morning.
Mia Bliss Sturgeon travels to Elysian Minnesota with her mother sister and other relatives for a visit expected to last until about September first.
L. B. Wilson district commercial manager and C. F. Lambert district traffic chief of the Nebraska Telephone Company were in Alliance last Friday with Local Manager Beeson to attend to company interests and meet patrons.
Mrs Rose Mellroy and her son Bar and daughter Ella have left the Phelan ranch after two years and returned to Thedford. Before departing Alliance they instructed The Herald to keep them updated on local happenings.
Earl Mallory spent Sunday visiting friends in Dalton, enjoying time with local acquaintances and catching up on community happenings.
Miss Alice Lamson, head milliner at Simmons, returned to Denver Sunday noon after two months in Alliance. Friends there hope she will return in the fall and continue her association with the shop.
Mise Leah Kreammer of Little Rock Arkansas arrived in Alliance last week as the guest of Mrs. R. Reardon. Former Alliance resident, she has many friends in the community and is visiting current ties.
Mrs. Fred McDonald was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning for an operation and is reported by her physician to be getting along quite well. Friends hope for an uneventful recovery.
Rev Jones led a lecture at Crawford district convention with delegates Mrs W R Harper Miss Nelle Acheson and Alma Weidenhamer assisting in singing. They departed on 43 yesterday. Bonner station lightner post office closed weeks ago replaced by new post in Lynn west of Bonner near Malinda. Lynn to receive mail from Angora.
A telegram received yesterday informed Mary Ray of a death, with details not fully clear in the fragment. The notice lists no further kin or service arrangements.
Wu E Field returned this morning from a trip to Texas with the party noting the journey and its purpose.
A niece at Scottabluff and the Houkhums traveled by train to Keokuk Iowa where they will likely reside. Mr H N Houkhum keeps Box Butte county real estate interests and may visit often. Their current address is 713 Blonde Street care of Mrs Margaret Burna.
R. B. Logan tells The Herald he will leave soon for other parts but has not decided his destination yet.
Rev. I B Nolte, long known in Alliance and nearby country for leading the Alliance circuit of the M W B church, has become pastor of the church at Hay Springs and spent the ieth and a few days in the city.
The Heralded announces the Scottabluff Chautauqua Assembly to be held July 16 to 23. A number of Alliance people will likely attend during part or all of the session.
W H Stone of Bayard, inventor of the blackroot plow, was among Alliance visitors last week. An old timer in western Nebraska, he still owns his homestead established twenty four years ago near present Bayard. He irrigates from a private ditch and grows hay oats and beets on his land.
Walter Buechsenstein of the Mallory Grocery Company is spending his vacation at Ravenna at the home of G. W. Betebenner.
Missea Katherine O'Donnell and Agnes Knlest departed Tuesday noon for a visit at the Wilson ranch near Lakeside lasting a week or ten days. Also notes on parasols at Norton’s and a for sale piano.
Gregory Zurn D.D.G.M. led the 0.0.F. M.E. initiation Tuesday evening with Grebe installed N.G. and John Snyder V.G. Judge Zurn traveled to Hemingford yesterday to install lodge officers there after the Alliance lodge event.
