Principal A P Stockdale dies in Alliance at 27

The Alliance High School principal A P Stockdale died at St Josephs hospital from pneumonia following influenza. He had served four years at the school and three as English instructor, recently becoming principal after A T Crawford left for Chadron. Survived by his parents and a sister, he was a Peru State Normal and University of Nebraska alum. The funeral path included high school pupils and pallbearers.

Obituary of 8 RR Fuller Carpenter and Builder

8 R R Fuller longtime carpenter and builder died Wednesday night January 1 after a week of illness. Born July 15 1882 in Farsgate England he came to Alliance four years ago with brother Charles E Fuller contractor. Survived by wife three children four brothers and five sisters. Funeral held at residence Thursday at 1 pm conducted by Rev A A Layton Baptist pastor. Burial in Greenwood cemetery.

Miss Trina Mrrhe Lotepelch daughter of Mrs J B Lotspiech married Albert J Gannen of the 112nd Pioneer Regiment Camp Wadsworth S C in a ceremony at a parlor in Alliance Tuesday evening Deru tea 34. Bride known in Alliance and groom formerly lived in New Hampshire before enlisting. They plan a brief honeymoon and will be at home after March on the groom's ranch near Hemingford. Representative Briges of the Seventy third district is in Lincoln for the legislature opening.

Miller to remodel Alliance Cafe into modern hotel lounge

Mr. J. M. Miller of the Alliance Hotel plans major changes to the Alliance Cafe. Architect Oscar R. Kerechke prepares drawings for enlarging the lobby adding a reading room and business office and removing the parlor dining room partition. Archways will double seating and new sanitary restaurant equipment will be installed advancing the hotel and cafe to contemporary standards.

County Agent Reports Record Potato Yields In Box Butte

The 1918 annual report of George Neuswan ger Box Butte county agricultural agent highlights county potato triumphs with first prize at Des Moines shows and Nebraskas top production. It notes 11 000 acresverages 121 bushels per acre yielding over a million bushels, seed testing shows varying tuber yields, and storage and market shipments across ten states. Also reports on disease treatment trials, tuber unit seed testing, dry land versus irrigated seed results, and growth of Federal Farm Loan Associations in Hemmeford and Alliance with over 80000 borrowed dollars.

Flu Situation Brightens As City Sees Fewer Cases

City health board reports no new flu cases today and only six on Tuesday, with Dr. Bellwood optimistic about preventing future outbreaks. A longtime Nebraska volunteer fireman dies in Fremont on December 31. A past president and pioneer member of the Nebraska State Volunteer Firemen's Association, his loss is noted as the annual convention in Fremont on January 21 22 and 23 draws near. Thirty Alliance fire department members including the band plan to attend, traveling in a special car and visiting Grand Island Omaha and Lincoln.
