Parisland Marsland Fire Destroys Half Town and Injures Worker
A three hour blaze began at 3 AM Wednesday in Marsland hotel office, destroying the hotel, Matthews general store, Kendrick hardware, blacksmith shop, and a vacant building. About 25 people escaped in night clothes after jumping from the second story. Losses total around 44 000 with 20 000 insured. Harry Townley injured by an axe head. 3 000 bushels of potatoes stored in a building burned. The fire, the most destructive in Marsland history, ended around 6 AM.
