Wyoming oil field spurs talks of new refinery at Alliance

The Lance Creek field in Wyoming is producing crude as plans for a refinery develop. A line from Lance Creek toward Omaha or Denver to the Gulf coast is under discussion with routes via the Prairie Pipe Line Co. toward the gulf. If built westward the line risks missing eastern markets, while a eastward route could link with Canada and Mid-continent trunk lines. Markets and freight rates loom large as operators weigh locating a large refinery in Alliance to serve the oil district and boost regional growth.

Butter Fat Price Hits Historic High at 72 Cents

The Alliance Creamery announced it will pay seventy two cents per pound for butter fat delivered to the creamery. The sharp price rise spurs more cream shipments from farmers, though the creamery has not yet increased its own butter price. a future increase is expected.
