Fancy Dress Ball at Phelan Opera House Delights Crowd

Thanksgiving evening event featured Mrs J T Wiker's orchestra and a parade of elaborate costumes. Grand march led by Mr and Mrs Percy Cogswell as the Opera House glowed with colored lights and guests praised the memorable affair.

Kensington at the Broome House Social Event

At the Broome residence a Kensington afternoon hosted by Mrs. Broome drew sixty three ladies. Contests awarded prizes for best button hole and guessing, with Mrs Harvey Ellis and Mrs A V Gavin winning silver sets and a silver thimble.

Williams elected Peru Alumni president at Lincoln banquet

Prof. GH Williams principal of Alliance High School was surprised to learn he had been elected president of the Peru Alumni Association at its November 17 banquet in Lincoln. The association counts over 1,200 members and he was not present at the meeting.

Big Edition Coming

The Herald announces a special Christmas edition to be issued December 1 with a colored cover. It will be twice the regular size, printed in Herald style and packed with reading material. Seventeen hundred copies will be printed and extra copies may be ordered for friends.

Nohe Family Private Room Burglarized Last Tuesday

Burglary at Nohe residence occurred between five and eight PM last Tuesday when unknown suspects forced open a private room while the owners were away at a restaurant. Two diamond rings two heirloom diamond earrings and a cigar box of nickels totaling about thirty five to thirty seven dollars were stolen. Two former workers in the building briefly detained were searched and then released without charges.

New Baptist Pastor Chosen for Alliance Church

Rev W F McNeill, pastor of Bridgeport Baptist churches at that race and Gering, has accepted a call for Alliance and will begin his pastorate in the new year. He and his wife plan to move the week after New Year’s Day and will preach January 8 in Alliance.

Nebraska Population Toppled by Census Figure for Nebraska

Nebraska’s population stands at 1,192,214 per a recent census bulletin. The gain is 125,914 people or 11.8 percent since the last count. The Alliance Commercial Club aided the enumeration. Box Butte county is listed at 6,151, an appears inaccurate.

Christmas Seals On Sale By Alliance Woman’s Club

The Woman's Club of Alliance places Red Cross Christmas seals on sale to raise funds for tuberculosis relief. Seals will be sold at the public library for readers and residents to support the effort.

Barber bound over for robbery after Thanksgiving arrest

Harry Wilson, a barber for Nation and Copeland, was arrested Thanksgiving night for shooting craps. He pleaded guilty to trespass and a later burglary charge after returning from Sheridan. Sheriff Cal Hox remanded him to county jail with a $300 bond and preliminary hearings set before County Judge Berry.

Organised Agriculture holds meetings at Lincoln January 16 to 16 1911. Agricultural horticultural and livestock topics to be discussed daily with horses swine cattle and silo talks.
