Horse Thief Captured After Chase Near Alliance
Than Simpson alias Charles Simpson Sam Nichola or Cockeyed Simpson, a noted horse thief, was captured in a Hay Springs hotel by Sheriff New of Sheridan county after a pursuit from Riley and O Shea eight teen miles northeast of Alliance. Horses stolen August 4 were driven to Olson s Sherman county homestead. Simpson fled on a gray saddle horse and jumped a wire fence during the chase. Sheriff Cox of Box Butte issued August 7 notices offering 250 dollars reward and detailing his appearance and aliases.
