Special dispatch from Broken Bow reports Scott Haddick, eight miles south of Mason City, shot and killed fellow farmer John Butler on disputed ground Sunday evening over a roadway through Haddick's property. Butler fired first. Haddick fired from behind a post, killing Butler. Haddick was arrested in Broken Bow after arriving by midnight train. Judge Sullivan has been retained as attorney. Haddick has long held a good reputation.
