Peter Olson a prominent Alliance figure died after a bout with pneumonia. The funeral will be Friday at 10 p m from Immanuel's Evangelical Lutheran church with Pastor Lang officiating. He was born in Norway on March 18 1840 and came to America at fourteen settling in Minnesota. He married Betty Lavern in 1860 and had fourteen children with ten surviving. Surviving relatives include Mery Jabonke Bethune George Olson Mrs M J Peterson Mrs Bohever Mrs Adan Swengel Lewis Olson Mrs Ida Rennwold Mrs J B Menswold and Mrs H H Rabbit Alliance. He was regarded as one of Alliance's most respected citizens.
George Curtle proprietor of the Palace Shoe Shining Parlor was summoned to Cherry county by the death of his mother Mee Marta Curtle who died Sunday April in Seneca. Born in Missouri in 1840 she was seventy years old at death. Survived by four daughters and two sons. The funeral was held Wednesday April.

McCarty previously stopped Flynn on February 22 while Flynn showed solid punching but could not withstand McCarty’s sustained offense. The bout featured repeated jabs rights and body shots with McCarty opening rounds strong and maintaining control through the later exchanges.
In a brisk final round McCarty landed a sequence of rights to jaw and body as Flynn absorbed punches. McCarty controlled the exchange with lefts to the nose and a right uppercut while Flynn fought back but could not send the bout to the canvas.
A farewell party honored Miss Merle Welliver at the J F Scott home in Berea Nebraska on Friday April 7 with a late luncheon. A theatre party followed by another luncheon and visits occurred at Miss Carlson and Miss Welliver homes. Omicron Kappa Club hosted a dancing party at Phelan Opera House with many couples in attendance. The Girls Four Square Club plans a Sunday meeting at the Methodist Church at 2 20 PM.
The Merald notes Rose & Peterson of Kansas City were chosen as architects for the new county courthouse. The $62,000 design features a three story stone or light brick building on Hox Lutte avenue, with a dome and concrete floors. The plan places county offices and courtrooms across three floors with careful adjacencies between clerk, treasurer, surveyor, and justice administration spaces.
Pete Watson A Elquist and Frank Mischke traveled from Mitchell by car yesterday and returned today They passed Watsons ranch in Sioux County on an eighty mile round trip, describing the outing as a scenic rural run.
Special to The Alliance Herald reports a major wildfire on the Deadwood branch near Pringle and Custer, South Dakota. The blaze, fueled by high winds, crossed nine miles by sixteen miles of pine and fir, destroying ranch buildings and leaving hundreds homeless. Two cavalry units and many volunteers fought the flames, with Buffalo Gap briefly threatened but the towns of Custer and Pringle spared. No deaths reported.
Cecil Wilson stole a diamond ring valued at 126 dollars and other jewelry in Litchfield Nebraska. He traveled to France with the items and pawned the ring for 26 dollars before being arrested on telegraphic information. The ring was recovered and the Litchfield sheriff pursued him.
