Victoire for Pat King case ends in acquittal at Sidney

The trial of Pat King against J H Vaughan and son Claud concluded in acquittal for the defendants by a twelve member jury after brief deliberation in Sidney. The dispute centered on a mis shipped steer belonging to King that had been mixed with a Vaughan shipment of one hundred head of cattle to York Nebraska. The defense produced stockmen to testify that such mistakes occur in handling large herds. The case drew prominent local interest and attendance, with several lawyers representing both sides. After the verdict, friends of both parties hoped the matter would be forgotten and benefit local stockmen.
